GDP per capita for 2023 was measured at $86,734. The region's primary employment sectors include business services, food and beverage manufacturing, health, hospitality, telecommunications, construction, machinery, and motor vehicle wholesaling. Professional, scientific and technical services made the largest contribution to overall growth in Auckland between 2022 and 2023. The industry grew by 6.8% over the period and contributed $1,021.3m to the district's total growth of $5,802.7m.
With a highly skilled workforce, over 36% of jobs are in knowledge-intensive industries, and Auckland houses half of New Zealand's technology professionals.
